Overdue Materials Policy

 The Johnsonburg Public Library loans materials free of charge to the citizens of Johnsonburg Borough. However, in the event that materials are kept beyond the loan period, an overdue fee will be charged daily until the materials are returned.

 

Loan periods for materials are as follows:

 

·         Books, Audio Books, Magazines:             2 weeks

·         Videos:                                                      3 days

 

Fines for materials are as follows:

 

·         Books, Audio Books, Magazines:             25 cents per item per day

·         Videos:                                                      $1.00 per item per day

 

Overdue reports will be run weekly by a member of the library staff. In the event of an overdue item, the following procedure will be followed:

 

·         First week:                        A phone call will be made to the patron notifying them of

the overdue materials.

 

·         Second week:       An overdue notice will be sent to the patron. The cost of

the stamp will be added to the patron’s fine for the book.

 

·         Third week:           An overdue notice will be sent to the patron return receipt.

The cost of the return receipt will be added to the patron’s

fine for the book. A letter will be included stating that this is the last notice that will be sent to the patron and the

materials must be returned to the library within one week of

receipt of the letter or the matter will be turned over to the police.
