Mission
The Johnsonburg Public Library has the mission of providing information, education and entertainment to the 3003 residents of Johnsonburg Borough. The Library also serves residents of Ridgway and Jones Township through the Access Pennsylvania Statewide System. The Library currently holds over 19,000 items including books, magazines, audio books and videos that are provided free of charge to patrons. In addition to materials, many services, such as reference service, Interlibrary Loan, and computer instruction, are provided at no charge. The Library also has an excellent collection of local historical and genealogical information available to the public. This collection includes microfilm of the Federal Census from 1870 and the Johnsonburg Press from 1899 with indexes of all deaths and marriages reported in the Press. The Library offers many other services to the community including copying and faxing services for a small fee. The Library has a Local Area Network with four computers with high-speed Internet connections that are available to all library card holders.
History
The Johnsonburg Public Library was founded by the Crescent Study Club in 1937. The Library was housed in the Johnsonburg Community Building until 1983 when the Stackpole Corporation donated its building at 520 Market Street to the Library.
